Everton have parted ways with manager Sean Dyche after less than two years in charge. The decision comes just hours before the Toffees’ FA Cup third-round match against Peterborough.
Dyche’s departure is a result of the team’s poor performance this season. Everton currently sits 16th in the Premier League, just one point clear of the relegation zone. The team has won only three league games out of 19 and failed to register a shot on target in their recent 1-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Following Dyche’s exit, under-18s head coach Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of the team for the FA Cup match against Peterborough. Additionally, four members of Dyche’s coaching staff – Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer – have also left the club.
Dyche took over as Everton manager in January 2023, succeeding Frank Lampard, and helped the team secure survival in the previous season with a 1-0 win against Bournemouth on the final day. His contract was set to expire in the summer.
