Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has extended a warm welcome to Éric Sékou Chelle, the newly appointed Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior national men’s football team. Simon, took to his X handle to express his enthusiasm for the new coach.
In a brief but heartfelt message, Simon posted, “Welcome to Nigeria,” as he welcomed Chelle to the Super Eagles family. This gesture reflects the team’s eagerness to work with the new coach and achieve success in the upcoming tournaments.
Chelle’s appointment was recommended by the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee during their meeting in Abuja on January 2, 2025. As the former coach of Mali’s senior men’s national team, Chelle brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.
As the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Chelle faces the significant challenge of guiding the team to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. With the next round of matches (Matchdays 5 & 6) scheduled to take place in March, Chelle will need to quickly settle into his new role and prepare the team for the task ahead.
