Barcelona have emerged victorious in the Spanish Super Cup, thrashing arch-rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in the final on Sunday, afrosportnews.com reports.
The match, played in Jeddah, saw Kylian Mbappé give Real Madrid an early lead in the 5th minute.
However, Barcelona staged an incredible comeback, with Lamine Yamal equalizing in the 22nd minute. Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde then scored before the interval, giving Barcelona a 4-1 lead.
Raphinha added a fifth goal two minutes after the break, but Barcelona’s goalkeeper Wojciech SzczÄ™sny was sent off in the 56th minute for a foul on Mbappé. Rodrygo scored a consolation goal for Real Madrid in the 60th minute, but it was too little, too late.

The victory marks Barcelona’s 15th Spanish Super Cup title and their first since 2023. The win is a significant boost for the Catalan giants, who have been working to regain their dominance in Spanish football.
