Eric Chelle has bid an emotional farewell to Algerian club Moloudia Oran, following his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles. Chelle had been in charge of MC Oran since October 2024, leading the team to two wins, one draw, and four losses.
In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Chelle expressed his gratitude to the club, its supporters, and the Algerian people for their warm welcome and support during his tenure. He described his decision to leave as difficult but necessary, citing a clause in his contract that allows him to join a national team.
Chelle’s last game in charge of MC Oran was a 1-0 win over ES Setif in the Algerian Cup on Saturday. He will now focus on his new role as Super Eagles head coach, with his first assignment being the 2024 African Nations Championship, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Chelle is expected to be unveiled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Abuja on Monday, marking the beginning of his new chapter as Super Eagles head coach.
