British number two Emma Raducanu has been awarded a wildcard entry into the Qatar Open, a WTA 1,000 event. The tournament, which takes place in Doha from February 9-15, will be Raducanu’s next competitive outing.
Raducanu’s recent form has been inconsistent, with back-to-back losses in the Singapore Open and Abu Dhabi Open. She was beaten by Cristina Bucsa in the opening round of the Singapore Open, before losing to former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in Abu Dhabi.
The 22-year-old had previously shown promise at the Australian Open, reaching the third round before being defeated by Iga Swiatek. However, her recent losses have raised concerns about her form and coaching setup.
Raducanu is currently without a coach, after Nick Cavaday stepped back from his role due to health reasons. The Qatar Open will provide Raducanu with an opportunity to regain her momentum and compete against top-level opponents.
