The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced that 11 home-based players invited for the D’Tigers’ next phase of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers will report to camp in Abuja on Monday. The players will undergo the first phase of training from February 10 to 16 at Bentley Hotel, Abuja.

The NBBF released a preliminary 24-man roster for the third phase of the qualifier, which will take place in Tripoli, Libya, from February 17 to 24. The foreign-based players will join the selected home-based players in Tripoli on February 17 for the final phase of camp and the competition.

D’Tigers head coach Abdulrahman Mohammed will lead the team, assisted by Deji Akindele and Isikaku Smart, an assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA. The team is currently bottom of Group B in the series, having lost all three matches in the last round of qualifying matches last year.

The top three teams will progress to the 2025 tournament in Angola, making the upcoming qualifiers crucial for D’Tigers. The team will be looking to turn their fortunes around and secure a spot in the tournament.
