Shooting Stars and Ikorodu City played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, in their NPFL Matchday 3 encounter. Both sides displayed determination and tactical discipline, giving fans plenty to cheer.
The Oluyole Warriors started brightly, winning an early free kick before Sodiq Ibrahim broke the deadlock in the 9th minute with a composed finish to give the hosts the lead. Shooting Stars dominated much of the first half, creating several chances and launching quick counterattacks, but Ikorodu City’s defense stood firm.
The visitors struck back just before halftime when Shola Adelani leveled the score in the 44th minute, ensuring both teams went into the break on equal terms.
The second half brought tactical adjustments. Qamar Adegoke replaced Sodiq Ibrahim, while Adebayo Abayomi came on for Tunde Azeez. Ikorodu City also pushed forward, but goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal, making his first home appearance of the season, pulled off a crucial save in the 52nd minute to deny a powerful header.
Shooting Stars continued to press, with Ayobami Junior coming close to restoring the lead, though his effort drifted wide. The match saw its share of discipline too, with yellow cards shown to an Ikorodu City defender for a foul on Ismail Ayodele and to 3SC captain Gali Falke.
Despite their push, Shooting Stars could not find the winner. The 1-1 result reflected a fiercely contested derby where both sides had opportunities but ultimately settled for a share of the spoils.
The Oluyole Warriors now stand with two draws and one defeat after three games in the 2025/26 NPFL season, as they continue their search for a first win.
