Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has vowed that Nigeria will give their absolute best when they compete in the CAF Play-Off Tournament for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The high-stakes mini-tournament will take place in Morocco from Thursday, November 13 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, serving as the final hurdle before the intercontinental play-offs scheduled for Mexico in March next year.
Nigeria earned their playoff ticket in emphatic style, crushing Benin Republic’s Cheetahs 4-0 on Tuesday night — a result that reignited the team’s World Cup hopes.
Speaking to thenff.com, Troost-Ekong expressed optimism and determination ahead of the decisive showdown.
“We are quite happy to have that opportunity. It’s a long route, but it’s a route after all. We would have loved to get the automatic ticket, but it didn’t happen and we take what we have,” he said.
The inspirational captain promised that the team would remain fearless and united as they aim to reclaim their place on football’s biggest stage.
“For us, we will remain strong and tough and ready to confront every challenge on our way as we search for the ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”
The Super Eagles will face Gabon in the semi-final of the CAF Play-Offs — a clash that promises drama, intensity, and a chance at redemption.
