The 5th edition of the Dreams Basketball Tournament, presented by #justhelpafrica, got underway in style, with four thrilling matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The tournament, which is being held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium on Liberty Road, Ibadan, from August 20th-25th, 2025, promises to be an exciting event, showcasing the talents of top basketball teams in the region.

In the opening matches, Hoops & Read set the tone with a dominant 64-47 win over Vision Sports in Group B. The team dictated the pace from start to finish, securing a comfortable win that bodes well for their chances in the tournament. In Group A, Showtyme survived a fierce battle against Deep Bond, winning 88-86 in overtime. Both teams gave it their all, but Showtyme’s composure in the clutch sealed the win.
The other two matches of the day were no less thrilling. Ebun Comets edged past University of Ibadan by a single point, 52-51, in a game that kept fans guessing until the very end. Rising Star also scraped past Kwara Falcons by just one point, 54-53, in another tightly contested affair. The wins set the stage for an exciting Day 2, with the quarterfinals shaping up to be intense.
The quarterfinals are set to take place on Friday, with four matches that promise to be just as thrilling as the opening day. Hoops & Read will take on University of Ibadan at 10:00 AM, followed by Rising Star vs Deep Bond at 11:30 AM. Ebun Comets will face Vision Sports at 1:00 PM, while Showtyme takes on Kwara Falcons at 2:30 PM.
