In a dramatic move, Bendel Insurance have suspended their technical adviser, Greg Ikhenoba, following a string of poor performances in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The decision was made public on Monday in an official statement by Edo State Sports Commission Chairman, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele.
Ikhenoba’s suspension takes immediate effect, marking a sudden twist in what has been a turbulent start to the 2025-26 season for the Benin-based club. The 1-0 home defeat to Nasarawa United on Saturday appears to have been the final straw for the management.
Taking over the reins in the interim is assistant coach Baldwin Bazuaye, who has been instructed to step in and steady the ship. Bazuaye will lead the team as they aim to bounce back from their disappointing form.
Bendel Insurance, often referred to as the Benin Arsenals, have struggled to find their rhythm this season. With just six points from seven games, the club currently languishes in 15th place on the NPFL table.
The suspension of the young tactician is seen as a desperate bid to revive the team’s fortunes. Fans will be hoping that this bold decision sparks a turnaround before the season slips further out of reach.

Hmmm things are happening oo
This is really heartbroken of the sudden suspension
