A violent scene broke out on Saturday during an NPFL match between Katsina United and Barau FC after Barau’s Nana Abraham was reportedly attacked by angry home fans.
Trouble started moments after Orji Kalu scored a 69th-minute equalizer for Barau FC, making it 1-1. Enraged supporters allegedly assaulted Abraham, leaving him with a deep neck cut.
The referee halted play as medical staff rushed to treat the injured player, who was later substituted in the 71st minute. The tense match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.
Barau FC confirmed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“70’ The match is temporarily halted following an attack on Barau FC player, Nana Abraham. Katsina United 1-1 Barau FC.”
