Rising Stars Basketball Club emerged champions of the 2025 Propella 3×3 Challenge after edging defending champions, University of Ibadan (UI), 21–18 in a pulsating final played at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The fast-paced final lived up to expectations as both teams traded baskets in a fiercely contested encounter. Rising Stars showed composure in the closing moments to dethrone UI, who had won the 2024 edition, sealing a memorable triumph in the seventh edition of the tournament.
Earlier in the day, Showtyme Hoopers claimed third place after a convincing 21–16 victory over Ondo Raiders in the classification match, rounding off a strong showing at the competition.
The semi-final stage delivered high drama, with Rising Stars booking their place in the final after defeating Ondo Raiders 21–16, while the University of Ibadan secured a narrow 19–18 win over Showtyme Hoopers in a tightly contested second semi-final.
Convener of the tournament, Babatunde Popoola, commended the quality of play and growing competitiveness of the Propella 3×3 Challenge, noting that the annual event continues to provide a vital platform for talent development and youth engagement in Oyo State.
Basketball enthusiasts in Ibadan and stakeholders were treated to an exciting showcase of skill, intensity, and sportsmanship, reinforcing the competition’s status as one of the leading grassroots basketball events in the state.
