The Ex-Ibadan Professional Football Association (EIPFA) has taken a bold step toward transforming grassroots sports as it officially inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the much-anticipated EIPFA Statewide Secondary School Games, while also sealing strategic partnerships with the Yoruba Sports Broadcasters Association (YOSBA) and Mowoola. The landmark ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 8, 2026, at the EIPFA Office in Ibadan.
At the heart of the event was the inauguration of Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan as Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, with Nigerian football legend, Chief Mutiu Adepoju, named Vice Chairman. The LOC is made up of experienced professionals from sports administration, legal, and community development backgrounds, a move EIPFA says is designed to guarantee transparency, efficiency, and a successful championship.
Adding momentum to the occasion, EIPFA formally unveiled partnerships with YOSBA and Mowoola, collaborations expected to significantly boost media visibility, youth participation, and overall impact of the games. In a show of commitment, the LOC Chairman presented YOSBA with a Certificate of Partnership, a ₦1,000,000 cheque, a set of jerseys, and two footballs, while Chief Mutiu Adepoju presented a Certificate of Partnership to Mowoola.
Representatives of YOSBA, led by Afeez Muhammed, and Creative Director of fashion brand, Mowoola, Oluwakemi Mowoola, expressed gratitude to EIPFA for the opportunity to be part of the initiative. They pledged full support, describing the partnership as a major boost to youth sports development and a platform that will help unearth the next generation of football stars.
The EIPFA Statewide Secondary School Games is scheduled for February 25–26, 2026, and will be staged across the state’s 10 zones. Speaking at the event, EIPFA Chairman, Mr. Temitope Obideyi, applauded stakeholders for their commitment and called on corporate bodies and individuals to support the initiative, stressing that sustained sponsorship is key to building a lasting legacy for school sports development.
