Ronaldo’s Retirement: Mourinho Reveals Whether CR7 Could Become a Football Manager

Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that it is too early to determine whether Cristiano Ronaldo will pursue a career in coaching after retiring from international football.

Mourinho spoke to journalists at Valdebebas on Friday, a day after Ronaldo announced his decision to end his 23-year international career with Portugal.

The Portuguese manager said he respected his former forward’s decision but wished the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could have enjoyed a different kind of farewell. He also stressed that Ronaldo’s playing career is not over, as he still has ambitions with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

Asked whether he could imagine Ronaldo becoming a manager, Mourinho said it was too early to make such a prediction. Ronaldo has previously expressed little interest in coaching, although he admitted that his position could change in the future.

Ronaldo ended his international career with 234 appearances and 146 goals, winning the 2016 European Championship and three UEFA Nations League titles. His retirement announcement came amid reported tension with Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus.
