Olympic Eagles: Nigeria U-23s Thrash Grassrunners 3–1 in Final Olympic Qualifier Preparations

Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles recorded an impressive 3–1 victory over Nationwide League One side Grassrunners FC in their second friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

The encounter provided another opportunity for the coaching crew to assess the team’s progress ahead of their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign against DR Congo.

Muiz Adeleke opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Habila Simeon doubled Nigeria’s advantage shortly after the restart.

Jude Otowowor extended the lead with a powerful 20-yard effort in the 65th minute, while Akani Fadel converted a penalty eight minutes from time to pull one back for Grassrunners.

The Olympic Eagles held on for a 3–1 victory as preparations continue for their crucial qualifying encounter against DR Congo.
