The 4th Ibadan Basketball Championship has reached its climax, with the semi-final fixtures set to take place on Saturday at the Lekan Salami Stadium (Adamasingba) in Ibadan, reports afrosportnews.com.

The championship, which tipped off on Friday, January 17th, 2025, has been a thrilling display of basketball skills and entertainment, showcasing the best of Oyo State’s male and female basketball talents.

The semi-final matches promise to be exciting, with the University of Ibadan (UI) basketball team facing Rising Stars, while Showtyme basketball team takes on Hoop Dreams. The teams have been battling it out in the group stage, with UI defeating Hoop Dreams 70-63 and Liberty Spears 57-52. Rising Stars had a mixed run, defeating Polytechnic Ibadan 79-47 but losing to Showtyme 48-72.

Showtyme has been impressive, defeating Polytechnic Ibadan 62-49 and Rising Stars 72-48. The team’s dominant performance has made them a strong contender for the championship title. With the semi-final games, 3rd place match, and the final match all taking place on Saturday, basketball fans in Ibadan are in for a treat.

The championship is organized by Ballers in Diaspora, a group of ex-basketball players from Ibadan who have come together to give back to their community.

According to Durojaiye Shoola , the goal is to provide a platform for young basketball players in Oyo State to develop their skills, showcase their talents, and compete in a well-organized and rewarding tournament.

The championship has a total prize money of ₦850,000, making it a highly competitive and rewarding event for participating teams.
