Al-Hilal has announced the termination of Neymar Jr.’s contract by mutual consent, bringing an end to the Brazilian’s 18-month stay in Saudi Arabia.
Neymar’s time at Al-Hilal was marred by injuries, playing only seven times since joining the club in August 2023. A cruciate ligament injury in his left knee kept him sidelined for a year.
The 32-year-old made two brief appearances in October and November but suffered a hamstring injury, ruling him out of action since. Neymar’s salary at Al-Hilal was reportedly around $104 million a year.
Al-Hilal expressed gratitude to Neymar for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors. The termination of his contract has sparked speculation about his next move.
Neymar is now widely expected to rejoin his boyhood club, Santos, in a potential return to Brazilian football.
