The battle for Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup spots has finally ended — and the nine nations that secured automatic qualification have been confirmed!
On a dramatic Tuesday night, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal became the last two teams to seal their places on football’s biggest stage.
The Ivory Coast powered past Kenya with a dominant 3-0 win, thanks to goals from Franck Kessié, Yan Diamonde, and Amad Diallo. The victory marks the Elephants’ fourth World Cup appearance and their first since 2014.
Meanwhile, the Teranga Lions of Senegal roared to a 4-0 demolition of Mauritania, finishing top of Group B with 24 points — just one ahead of DR Congo, who now head to the playoffs after defeating Sudan.
With qualification sealed, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal join Ghana, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Cape Verde, and Algeria as Africa’s automatic representatives for the 2026 World Cup.
