The city of Port Harcourt is officially set to become the epicenter of top-flight African women’s football. Rivers State has been officially named as the host destination for the highly anticipated 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six Finals, DAILY POST reports.
The mouth-watering, season-ending competition is scheduled to run from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026.
This prestigious tournament brings together the top six elite teams from the regular season to battle it out in a highly competitive format. The team that tops the standings at the end of the 10-day fiesta will officially be crowned the undisputed champions of the 2025/26 NWFL season.
Elite Field Confirmed: Defending Champions Face Stiff Test
The race for the domestic crown features the absolute cream of the crop in Nigerian women’s football. The six qualified teams for the 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six include:
- Bayelsa Queens (Defending Champions)
- Edo Queens
- Rivers Angels (Tournament Hosts)
- Robo Queens
- Nasarawa Amazons
- Abia Angels (Tournament Debutants)
All eyes will heavily be on Bayelsa Queens, who lifted the trophy for a historic sixth time last season. However, they face a mountain to climb against hosts Rivers Angels—who will be banking heavily on vociferous home support at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium complex—and surprise debutants Abia Angels, who are eager to pull off a fairytale upset in their very first Super Six appearance.
