AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Osimhen Set to Miss Super Eagles’ Double-Header Against Tanzania

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will miss Nigeria’s two-legged 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against Tanzania after sustaining a knee injury.

His club, Galatasaray, announced on Friday that the 27-year-old will undergo surgery on Saturday following the injury he suffered during Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Stuttgart.

Osimhen has already been excluded from Galatasaray’s squad for Saturday’s league encounter against Amedspor and is expected to spend some time on the sidelines.

The injury comes as a major setback for Nigeria ahead of their Matchday Three fixture against Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13.

The Super Eagles will travel to Dar es Salaam for the return fixture four days later, with the coaching crew now facing the challenge of finding a replacement for their leading striker.
