NPFL: Rivers United Respond to ₦15m Suspended Fine and Points Deduction
Rivers United have acknowledged the Nigeria Premier Football League’s disciplinary decision over the obstruction of a live broadcast during their match against Rangers.
The club confirmed receipt of the league’s ruling in a statement issued by its media director, Charles Mayuku.
Rivers United maintained that their actions were preceded by engagements aimed at ensuring orderly conduct and protecting stakeholders’ interests.
The club also called for fairer distribution of live television coverage among all 20 NPFL teams, arguing that selective coverage could undermine the league’s development.
The club faces a suspended ₦15 million fine and a three-point and three-goal deduction, which will only be activated if it commits a similar offence again this season.
