The Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially approved the use of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, free of charge for the finals of the EIPFA Statewide Secondary School Tournament and a high-profile novelty match between Ex-Ibadan Professional Football Association (EIPFA) and Ex-Super Eagles players, afrosportnews.com.
The approval, conveyed in a formal letter from the Ministry, grants EIPFA access to the stadium for two major events on its 2026 sporting calendar.
The state finals of the EIPFA Statewide Secondary School Tournament will hold on March 19 and 20, 2026, while the much-anticipated exhibition match between EIPFA and former Super Eagles stars is scheduled for May 31, 2026.
The EIPFA Statewide Secondary School Games is scheduled for February 25–26, 2026, and will be staged across the state’s 10 zones.
The Ministry’s decision to waive the usage fee underscores the state government’s support for grassroots sports development and youth engagement initiatives.
The Adamasingba Stadium, one of the state’s premier sporting facilities, is expected to provide a fitting stage for the climax of the statewide tournament, which has drawn participation from schools across the 10 zones of Oyo State.
Reacting to the approval, EIPFA Chairman, Temitope Obideyi, expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Oyo State Government for their backing. He described the gesture as a significant boost that will enhance the quality, visibility, and overall success of both the tournament finals and the Novelty match.
The March finals will mark the culmination of a competition aimed at discovering and nurturing young football talents, while the May 31 novelty match is expected to attract fans and stakeholders, celebrating football excellence and inspiring the next generation.
