The University of Ibadan (UI) has emerged triumphant in the Men’s Final of the Ibadan Basketball Championship, defeating Rising Stars 46-42 in a hard-fought match.
UI’s victory marks the culmination of a strong campaign, following their dominant 68-24 win over Embrace in the semi-finals. Rising Stars had also put in a strong performance, beating Yellow Tigers 54-25 to reach the final.
In the female category, Showtyme Angels took home the win, defeating Showtyme Academy.
The 5th Ibadan Basketball Championship, sponsored by Ibadan Ex-Basketball Players in Diaspora, has once again proved to be a premier platform for showcasing talent, promoting basketball, and fostering community spirit in Oyo State. The tournament has become a beacon for young athletes, providing opportunities for growth, development, and excellence.
The championship featured six male teams and two female teams, with the winner receiving a cash prize of ₦300,000 and the runner-up ₦200,000.
