CHELSEA HIT BY TRIPLE INJURY BLOW AHEAD OF SUNDERLAND CLASH

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Jorrel Hato, Maxence Lacroix and Joao Pedro will miss Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Sunderland.

The Blues travel to the Stadium of Light hoping to build on their victory over Manchester United in their previous league match.

Alonso revealed that the three injured players would be assessed during the international break, with Hato expected to remain sidelined for several more weeks.

The Chelsea manager said a clearer update on their recovery would be available ahead of the club’s next fixture against Leeds United.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez could return after recovering from a jaw injury that required surgery, although a final decision will be made after Saturday’s training session.

Midfielder Moises Caicedo is also being monitored after experiencing discomfort following the previous match, raising doubts about his availability.

Martinez’s possible return could create a selection dilemma for Alonso, as Mike Penders has started Chelsea’s last three matches in his absence.
