FLAMINGOS CAPTAIN: WORLD CUP VICTORY WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE
Nigeria U-17 women’s captain Harmony Chidi says winning the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup would be an unforgettable achievement for the team and the country.
Chidi made the declaration ahead of Saturday’s final against Japan at the 2026 tournament in Morocco.
She described reaching the final as a dream fulfilled but stressed that lifting the trophy would make the achievement even more special.
The Flamingos recovered from a 2-1 opening defeat to Poland to record five consecutive victories against Puerto Rico, DPR Korea, Mexico, Venezuela and Brazil.
Head coach Akeem Busari attributed the team’s impressive turnaround to psychological guidance, improved mentality and renewed commitment to their game plan.
Busari acknowledged Japan’s quality but insisted that the final would be determined by the attitude, character and mentality of both teams.
He urged his players to maintain their fighting spirit, stressing that reaching the final was not the end of their mission as Nigeria target their first title in the competition.
