BUSARI HAILS FLAMINGOS’ GLADIATORS AFTER HISTORIC WORLD CUP TRIUMPH
Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has praised his players for their determination and outstanding performance following Nigeria’s historic triumph at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Busari guided the Nigerian youngsters to their maiden title after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Japan’s Little Nadeshiko in Saturday’s final in Morocco.
The Flamingos began their campaign with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Poland but responded brilliantly, winning their remaining six matches to emerge as world champions.
The victory also earned Nigeria a unique place in the competition’s history, becoming the first team to lose their opening match and still go on to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Speaking after the final, Busari described his players as gladiators, commending their fighting spirit and commitment. He said he had urged them to give everything in the battle, assuring them that their sacrifices would eventually bring smiles.
