INFANTINO HAILS FLAMINGOS! FIFA PRESIDENT CELEBRATES NIGERIA’S HISTORIC WORLD CUP TRIUMPH

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Nigeria’s Flamingos following their historic triumph at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Nigeria defeated Japan’s Little Nadeshiko 2-1 in Saturday night’s final at Pitch 3 of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat to claim their first-ever title.

Goals from Awawu Bashiru and Oluebube Umejiaku gave the Nigerian youngsters a commanding 2-0 lead before Fuki Ito pulled one back for Japan.

Reacting to the victory, Infantino described Nigeria’s achievement as well deserved, celebrating the Flamingos for becoming the first African nation to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The FIFA president also congratulated Japan and DPR Korea for finishing second and third respectively, while commending Morocco for successfully hosting the tournament.
