OSIMHEN UNDERGOES KNEE SURGERY! SUPER EAGLES STAR FACES THREE-WEEK INJURY LAYOFF
Galatasaray have confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has successfully undergone surgery following a knee injury sustained during their UEFA Champions League encounter against VfB Stuttgart.
The 27-year-old initially suffered a sprain in his left knee, but further medical examinations, including an MRI scan, revealed a loose fragment that required surgical intervention.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Turkish champions confirmed that the procedure was performed at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by the club’s team doctor, Yener İnce. Osimhen will now undergo daily medical assessments under the supervision of the club’s medical team.
According to Turkish publication Fanatik, the Nigerian striker could spend approximately three weeks recovering and is expected to miss upcoming league matches against Amedspor and Samsunspor. However, he could return in time for Galatasaray’s Champions League clash against Aston Villa on November 24, provided his recovery progresses as expected.
The injury is also a major concern for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who will be monitoring the striker’s fitness ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Tanzania. Osimhen’s possible absence could present a significant selection headache for the Nigerian tactician.
